General objectives / Skills to be acquired
At the end of this complete course, trainees will be able to:
• Deepen their knowledge of specific diagnosis in Functional Jaw Orthopedics (FJO) and treatment planning with Functional Orthopedic Appliances (FOAs);
• Update their knowledge on SNs (Simões Network) appliances and accessories.
• earn the entire construction sequence of functional orthopedic appliances, prioritizing the tracing of models, preparation of the prescription and verification of the the appliances after they have been made;
• Deepen their knowledge about the order and priorities when choosing the appliances.
Pedagogical Strategic Objectives:
At the end of this complete course, trainees will be able to:
• Carry out a diagnosis and prognosis according to specific FJO methods (Simões, Petrovic and Bimler cephalometric analyses);
• Deepen their knowledge about the order and priorities when choosing Functional Orthopedic Appliances (FOAs);
• Acquire knowledge of when functional orthopedic appliances should be changed;
• Deepen their knowledge of how to use the accessories in appliances;
• Know the correct construction of functional orthopaedic appliances, in order to be able to critically analyse the appliances received from the laboratory;
• Know how to trace models and write the prescriptions correctly;
• Know how to carry out the containment phase in functional orthopedic treatments;
• Deepen and update their knowledge on the SNs;
• Activate functional orthopedic appliances in the mouth;
• Seminars to discuss clinical cases from both the Institute and the trainees.
